As always to everyone for all your hard work. Grozone is looking and feeling better every day!

The food growing (and cooking) is fantastic.
Work started clearing a new food growing area next to the greenhouse.
Becky, Mike and BJ have transformed an old bath into a pond, and are now working on another one.
Scarecrow trail – thanks everyone (especially Rachel) for your help. We now have 19! We will vote on our favourite ones to keep on display and put the others in storage until the next trail event.
New quiet area – was perfect for the mindfulness session.
Website/social media
Minutes of all Friends meetings can be found on the Grozone website at the bottom of the home page.
The website is looking fantastic. Thanks to Si for all your hard work, and thanks also for doing the World Cup Sweepstake.
Calendar is now completed for the rest of the year giving activity details.
Grozone Committee(s)
No further suggestions have been made for members so we will form sub committees for particular events as and when we need them.
Sub committee to discuss plans for our cob oven to take place on
Tuesday 19thAugust at 2.00pm if you’re interested.
Training
Mindfulness – taster session took place on July 23rd. Thanks Jan and Jo. If you would like to take part in more sessions pleased let Pete or Andy know (thanks Cynthia, Bill, Chris and Ray for your interest).
Bike maintenance – Andy to arrange a session on a Friday afternoon (if possible) after the holiday club has finished.
Dementia awareness – session to be held immediately after this meeting with Julia Tickridge.
Other projects
Vale Royal CCG – numbers increasing. CCG staff working with Andy to raise profile
UCAN - students now on holiday but first sessions well received by pupils and staff. Will restart in September on Thursdays, with a possible taster session for other
students in August. We must all be aware of safeguarding issues around the
pupils, and remember that the students are involved in a separate project whilst
they are at Grozone.
Holiday club
Up and running, but low turnout so far. Please let people know about it and ask them to go to the website to book places. Thanks everyone for helping.
Events
Visits to Norley – timber has been cut for the toilet ramp, and now needs to be collected on 21st August. Pete to drive from Grozone with help please!
Winsford event - Pete and Chris went along to the 3L open day – staff
may do a return visit to Grozone.
Norton Priory visit - Was a very enjoyable day out, and really useful and inspiring to see another garden. We definitely want a pizza oven, but maybe not a micro brewery) and look forward to staff and volunteers from NP coming to visit us at Grozone. See below.
Vickers Way Park Open Day (Sat 2nd August) - shared a stall with RWT staff.
Weather was terrible, but the stall and Grozone had quite a few visitors. Thanks
everyone for your help with the scarecrows and other activities.
Grozone social – rounders and BBQ Wednesday 27th August
New ideas
Very inspired by Norton Priory to create a cob oven (see above), some fruit
cordons to grow uncommon varieties of local apples and a bee hotel.
Working with old peoples’ homes and schools to create sensory gardens for
residents/pupils?
Any other business
Andy has been asked if we could help the Weaver Hall Museum to build some raised beds. Would anyone like to help?
Andy to talk to the Big Lottery Fund soon regarding the recruitment of another member of staff.
