Present – Denise, Simon, Sam, Mike, Sarah, Fiona, Pete, Andy
Andy asked for everyone’s thoughts about what they would like from a cooking project
Mike – using different ingredients, getting different recipe ideas and being
experimental, celebrity chef involvement
Denise – nutritious eating, learning/sharing cooking skills (starting with basic
skills), building confidence, cooking on a budget
Sarah – learning skills, the whole circle of growing/ cooking/eating food, the multi
sensory nature of growing/cooking/eating, the accessibility of growing/eating
Simon – sharing ideas, affordable eating, cooking as another activity to get involved in
Andy – all the above, plus the potential for accessing funding that could pay for a
bread/pizza oven, and kitchen
Pete – stressed the importance of seasonality of linking cooking with what we
grow.
All agreed to discuss what we want to eat and therefore grow at cooking sessions.
Agreed that activity leaders should have food hygiene training, but that it was not essential for all.
Cooking activities are currently planned for Fridays
Simon mentioned that Mid Cheshire College and John Deane’s College may be able to help with courses
Discussed Jack Monroe and ‘Grow your own drugs’ books
