Wood is a wonderfully versatile material and has been used to make everything from bowls to aeroplanes! Working with nothing more than hand tools to produce small wooden domestic objects or “treen” such as butter knives, spatulas and spoons is very rewarding.
Little can beat the sense of relaxation and satisfaction gained from spending a few hours whiling away a few hours whittling your very own spoon.
Volunteers from Grozone are spending the day with Saltscape Project Officer Saul Burton on Friday 31st July to learn some basic wood carving techniques and make some useful items such as spatulas and butter knives/spreaders. The items they make will no doubt be put to good use in Grozone’s outdoor kitchen!
Visitors are more than welcome to join us.
